Workshops & Lab Hours

Open Lab Hours

Upcoming workshops:

Industrial Machine Training with Orion Cortez.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to use an industrial sewing machine?  Join this workshop to learn and be signed off on an industrial machine to be able to use  for your future heavier projects.

What are Open Lab Hours?

Open Lab Hours offer opportunities for any Portland State University student to use the Fashion and Textile equipment and facilities.  Attendees must check in with the lab monitor before using the space.

What equipment/materials are provided?

Are studios are stocked with most things to work. You only need to bring your project-specific fabric, thread, and notions. A full list of equipment and purchasable items are available in each studio. We do not provide storage space for projects outside of classes ran by the arts department.

Will you teach me how to sew/dye/weave?

We do not provide formal instruction during Open Studio hours. However, each lab has an extensive library of video tutorials available to learn various textile processes. Learning how to sew mend and work with textiles is taught by PSU staff in the college of the arts.

Still have questions?
